About 3N

Student Planners/Folders: Student planners and folders are important organization tools. Students are given time to copy homework and reminders from the board in their student planners each day. Please help your child develop the habit of reviewing and checking off completed assignments daily. Students should bring their planners and folders to school everyday. Papers traveling to and from school should be kept neatly in the appropriate folders where they can be easily checked by parents and teachers. Please do not remove papers from specific subject folders as these are saved for studying and prepping for quizzes and tests. Homework folders should be checked each day!

Homework Policy: Homework is a very important component to a successful school experience. Please know that it is OKAY to help your child with homework!! Homework is assigned everyday and will include written practice assignments, studying, practicing math facts, word rings, book reports, projects, etc. Homework is checked daily, and if an assignment is not complete, students  will receive a "missing homework" slip and must return the assignment along with the SIGNED homework slip the very next day.

Sign & Return Policy: Students are given the opportunity to make corrections to assignments receiving a low grade (below 70). The assignment will be marked "fix, sign and return". Students can fix their mistakes, get the assignment signed by a parent, and resubmit the assignment for teacher review. In doing this, my intent is to keep parents informed of grades and performance.

Spelling Tests: Spelling words will be given every Day 1, with a test each Day 6. Doing this allows plenty of time for study and practice. Students will be reminded of tests and will be given time to record upcoming tests in student planners.

Reading Weekly Lesson Tests: Every Day 6, students will take a weekly reading test in their reading class. Comprehension, Focus Skills, and Vocabulary will be tested. Students will work on the skills throughout the 6 day cycle and their daily reading homework will help prepare them for the test. Studying vocabulary word meanings is also an important part of getting ready for the test.
